Special Entry Requirements

In GCSE English Language and Maths, you will need a minimum of a grade 3 in one and grade 2 in the other plus some GCSEs at grade 3 or 4.

Subject Intent

Travel and tourism industry makes up 10% of all the employment in the UK and living in a tourism town, Scarborough is the perfect place to study the course and gain relevant experience. This course provides the skills, knowledge and experience to do this through a route onto our level 3 course and then into higher education or progression directly into the workplace.

Course Introduction

This course will give you the foundation for a career in the travel industry. You will study UK Travel and Tourism learning about how the UK is best equipped for tourism. You will gain skills in customer service and understand the importance of good service in a range of industries. You will also study organising events which is becoming a growing market. The final unit is how tourism affects a host city and the impact, both positive and negative, it can have to the residence and guests. The course includes relevant work experience, trips and visits within the industry. Travel & Tourism provides an excellent grounding for either further study or direct entry into employment within the sector.

Assessment

  • 100% internal assessment- no exams.
  • Assessment is made through a variety of methods across each module.
  • Assessments can include practical role plays, verbal interviews and presentations.
  • All judgements are externally quality assured.
