Music Technology – L3 Applied General
Special Entry Requirements
In addition to the level 3 Applied General entry requirements, a keen interest and passion for music is essential. Previous experience of performing music and/or using music technology software would be an advantage.
The single Applied General is equivalent to one A Level and can be taken alongside A Levels or Applied Generals. This qualification enables learners to develop a core knowledge of the music technology industry and the use of recording and technical equipment.
This course is based in our bespoke Music centre which is fitted out with a music studio, practice rooms and modern production equipment, enabling you to learn in a practical and enjoyable way, gaining hands-on experience of the different elements of music technology.

Music Technology is a hands-on, practical course in which you will develop skills in composing using digital software, studio recording, music production techniques, sequencing and remixing and develop your own branding. Students will study the modern music industry and deal with real-world professional scenarios, equipping them with the skills necessary to enter this exciting field. You will also develop a range of transferable skills including time management, teamwork and problem solving.
A wide range of units are available, allowing students to focus on their own areas of interest such as live performance, rehearsal skills, studio recording, music and sound for media, music production, remixing and many more.
The course is assessed through a variety of practical tasks and written assignments, enabling students to play to their strengths and enjoy their learning
