Engineering – L3 Applied General
Single | Double
Special Entry Requirements
In addition to the level 3 Applied General entry requirements, you will need a minimum of grade 5 in GCSE Maths.
The Applied General in Engineering offers a more practical and hands on approach than the traditional A Level route for engineering; although it can be taken alongside A Level Maths and Physics as well.
It is a good introduction to the principles of engineering and their application and will enable you to actively experience the engineering environment.
You will examine the engineering workplace both locally and nationally.
The units studied will provide a mix of practical and theoretical work, as well as visits and speakers. Units studied will depend on whether you choose to take single or double Engineering but may include:
- The Engineering Workplace locally and nationally
- Mathematics for Engineers
- Electrical and Electronic Principles
- Mechanical Principles and Applications
- Principles and Applications of Electronic Devices and Circuits
- Engineering Drawing For Technicians
- An Engineering Project
Learning is achieved through the completion of projects and assignments based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands.
Assessment will combine written assignments and practical projects that will be based on realistic workplace situations. There are no exams.
