80% coursework but two key external assessments in Fitness for Sport & Exercise, and Anatomy & Physiology for Sports Performance.
Each new Level 2 BTEC First qualification has an essential core of knowledge and applied skills. We have introduced external assessment appropriate to the sector. This provides independent evidence of learning and progression alongside the predominantly portfolio-based assessment.

The coursework is undertaken in a variety of forms such as: essays, reports, coaching logs, presentations, practical demonstrations, interviews, Q&A and observations to suit a variety of learning needs.

Career Opportunities:

The knowledge, understanding and skills learnt in studying a BTEC First will aid progression to further study and prepare learners to enter the workplace in due course. In the sport sector, typical employment opportunities may include working as a coach or as a fitness instructor. Students can access the sports academies alongside their studies as well as enrichment programme to aid their college experience.
