Dance - BTEC Subsidiary Diploma
Special Entry Requirements:
In addition to the level 3 BTEC entry requirements you will need to pass an audition. During the audition we will be looking to see if you have any experience in dance performance and observing your technique. We will also be assessing your dedication, commitment and effort during this process.
This is a vocational course with a strong emphasis on practical work. You will study a range of dance styles and creative approaches. You will have the opportunity to perform in shows and take part in workshops with visiting dance professionals.
Each year you will study three modules:
- Developing Contemporary Dance
- Jazz Dance
- Dance performance
- Dance Appreciation
- Choreographing Dance
- Performing to an audience
The dance course is mainly assessed practically in which students will perform in class assessments or they will perform to an audience as part of a show. However, some parts of the course involve written assignments; these are a combination or essays, logs and diaries, articles and presentations.
Students can use this course to lead them onto a variety of career paths. Some examples from this course could lead onto university courses, drama and dance schools or a teaching route. Other career opportunities include:
