How to Apply

1. Attend an open event

Come and see our brand new facilities, meet our friendly team and discover our wide choice of subjects and enrichment. Our next open event is:

  • Thursday 5th March (4:00pm – 5:30pm)

Alternatively you can contact Admissions to book a tour. Email admissions@s6f.org.uk or ring 01723 380722

Pre-register in advance
You can save time at the open events and pre-register. Simply complete the online form here.

Parking
We have three car parks (two on Box Hill and one on Sandybed Lane). We also have permission to use St. Augustine’s car parks and the Church car park opposite us on Stepney Drive (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) for the event. There is also plenty of street parking nearby, however please be considerate of our neighbours.

2. Apply online

We have a preferred deadline of 31st January, however we still accept applications after this date. Don't worry if you're not sure which courses you want to take. You only need to put down which subjects you're thinking about and you can then discuss ideas and make changes at your consultation.

3. Attend a consultation

All applicants will be invited to a consultation. You will be able to book your own appointment through the Student Portal and will receive a letter with instructions for how to do this. The consultation takes around 15 minutes in total and is to discuss course choices, entry requirements and address any questions that you may have.

Topics that may be covered during the consultation:

  • Predicted GCSE results and entry requirements
  • Qualifications you wish to study at S6F
  • Employment opportunities and further study that the course/s can lead to
  • Other options you could consider
  • Timetable commitments as a student at Scarborough Sixth Form College

Students should consider:

  • What skills, qualifications, strengths, interests etc. do you have in relation to the needs of the course?
  • What are your reasons for wanting to come to S6F?
  • The amount of work you will have to do, including coursework and exams

Attendance at consultation
The consultation is an important element in the college’s admissions process. If you are unable to attend for any reason, please contact Admissions on admissions@s6f.org.uk

4. S6F Preview - Become an S6F student for the day

S6F Preview gives you the chance to experience college life and sample some subjects. It is a good opportunity to explore the college, meet the staff and make friends. For 2020 entry the Preview Day will be Wednesday 1st July.

If you have applied to college you will receive a letter a week beforehand detailing where you will need to go on arrival. If you have any questions or wish to change your subject choices you can contact the Admissions Team at admissions@s6f.org.uk or 01723 380722.

Attendance
If you’ve applied to college but are going to be away for S6F Preview please let us know. Don’t worry if this is the case, non-attendance at the Preview day will not affect your application.

Not Applied to College?
If you have yet to make a decision about what you will be doing in September you can still attend the taster day. Please contact the Admissions Team at admissions@s6f.org.uk or 01723 380722 and they will organise this for you.

5. Enrolment

All applicants will receive an invitation to enrolment during the 2020 summer holidays.

Progression Year
Didn’t get the results you expected? Don’t panic!
Whatever your GCSE results, come and speak to us about your options – you can apply for our Progression Year of GCSEs and BTECs!

Enrolment Attendance
It is essential that all new students are in college for enrolment; please do not book holidays during this crucial period. Late enrolling students will have a more limited course choice and there is clear evidence that new students who do not experience the enrolment process with their peers, find settling into college far more difficult.

If you are unable to attend enrolment, please let Admissions know on 01723 380722.
