Guidance Support Tutors

On entry into College you are allocated a Guidance Support Tutor, who you meet twice a week on a regular timetabled basis. Your Guidance Support Tutor is your main point of contact with the College and has overall responsibility for your welfare; it is important to develop a good working relationship with your tutor. If you are having problems or need advice your Guidance Support Tutor is usually the first person you would consult.

In particular he/she has responsibility for:

  • Helping you settle into College
  • Overseeing and supporting your progress and your ILP (individual Learning Plan) including monitoring your attendance (you are registered electronically in every lesson)
  • Responding to queries about you from your subject teachers
  • Liaising with your parents where needed
  • Delivering the tutorial programme
  • Helping you plan your career progression for employment or university
  • Writing your reference for employment or university
  • Informing you of routine administration, such as exam procedures

Regular tutorials are arranged as full group activities and you should develop a sense of belonging to the group. Individual reviews are also arranged, so your Guidance Support Tutor can also discuss and plan your progress.

Contact details for all Guidance Support Tutors (GST's) are available here.
