Consultation Meetings
Scarborough Sixth Form College Consultations
Upon receiving a prospective student’s application to the College, an appointment will be made for a Consultation to discuss their proposed course choices with a member of staff. This will take place during the Spring term.
The Consultation is to help students choose the right course for them. Before the consultation they should think about what we will discuss and any questions they may have. The following are points they may wish to consider, but remember, it’s not a test so don’t worry – we don’t expect them to have all the answers!
What they might want to know:
-
Qualifications they will achieve
-
Employment opportunities and further study that the course can lead to
-
Ideas from careers advice and guidance they’ve had to help them in their choices
-
Other options they could consider
-
Timetable commitments as a student at Scarborough Sixth Form College (including Functional Skill, X Factor, General Studies and Tutorial Programmes)
-
The entry requirements for the course they have applied for.
Their suitability for the course:
-
What skills, qualifications, strengths, interests etc. do they have in relation to the needs of the course?
-
Their reasons for wanting to come to Scarborough Sixth Form College
-
The way their studies are likely to be organised and the amount of work they will have to do
An Introduction Course for all prospective new entrants will be held on Monday 2nd July 2012, during which a full timetable is arranged for the student. At the Consultation they will be asked to choose 6 subjects to “sample” at the Introduction Course so that this will provide them with as much information as possible on our Courses before they make their final decision at their enrolment interview in August.
