FUNCTIONAL SKILLS
Functional Skills are practical skills in English, Maths and Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Functional Skills are not just about knowledge; they are also about knowing when and how to use the knowledge you have in real life situations.
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Level 2
This course is for students who arrive at the College without a Level 2 qualification in ICT.
The course involves:
- Using ICT
- Finding and selecting information
- Developing, presenting and communicating information
Students will have 2 hours to tackle tasks using ICT systems (and appropriate resources) and submit this to the exam board.
4 assessment opportunities each year. Students will be entered for the exam once they have shown that they have learnt the necessary skills.

- Desk Top Publishing
- Spreadsheets
- Using Search Engines on the Intranet
